Endurance Challenge Ultra – Full Program
This 16 week program is designed to build the proper conditioning to complete The North Face Endurance Challenge 50K or 50 Mile on December 5th, 2010. It combines Saturday Trail runs on courses throughout Marin that showcase the best of what the area has to offer. The midweek workouts are based in San Francisco and consist of running drills mixed with core exercise designed and coached by Ultra Running Champion, Pilates and Yoga Instructor, and Doula Caitlin Smith. Participants develop strength, stamina, and most importantly, friendships. We focus on the race course but also take time to explore other trails in the region to expose as many awesome routes as we can.
Components
* Saturday Trail Runs – Starting from rotating locations in Marin with detailed maps that match the build up for The North Face Endurance Challenge SF.
* Wednesday Workouts – Trail running drills workout lead by TNF Endurance Challenge Champion (“09), Pilates and Yoga Instructor, and Duola, Caitlin Smith, at rotating SF locations.
* Access to club forum with maps, directions, carpooling, calendar, and other resources
* Discounts from Hydrapak (50%) & Sportsbasement (10%)
Prerequisites:
Please access your fitness level, especially your core strength, when signing up for this program. Consider 4 week Ultra 101 course which allows for a more gradual build up this schedule. The first run for the 50k program will be 6 miles.
50 Mile – Ability to run 10 miles comfortably prior to program start.
50K – Ability to run 8 miles comfortably prior to program start.
